Theatre of Blood's run extended

This may very well be old news to some of you, but I've only just got the chance to post about it! There have been twenty-eight new dates added to Theatre of Blood's run at the National, which means that tickets are now available on various dates up to and including August 27th. (The original run was until June 15th.) This is great news for anyone who will be in London after June and was hoping to catch the play. This is how the new performance schedule is now looking:

* = Captioned performances are designed for the hard of hearing, and I think this means that signs are held up with the actors' dialogue on them.
** = Audio described performances are designed for the visually impaired, and headsets are provided for those wishing to listen to a commentary of what the actors are doing. More information here: Facilities for Visually Impaired People.

All of these dates are now available to be booked at The National Theatre website. There is also a new official website for the production at BloodAndGuts.co.uk, which features a little Flash animation.

I'm really looking forward to it. :)

New reviews and interviews

I have just added two reviews and one interview to the site. Thank you to Lottie for letting me know about them. :)

  • Killer instinct: a review of Five Little Pigs
  • Velvet underground: a review of Tipping the Velvet
  • Secrets and lives: an interview with Rachael from January 2005

My favourite part of the interview is the question, "If I gave you an elephant, where would you hide it?" to which Rachael responded, "Up your bum!" Odd girl. :)

TV airings

Just a quick reminder of two Rachael Stirling shows airing on American, Canadian, and British television this Sunday. The Murder at the Vicarage will be aired on PBS (available to the US and some of Canada) at 9pm, whereas in the UK, Tipping the Velvet will be shown in its entirety on BBC 4, also at 9pm.

The Rachael Capers

An interview has been added to the interviews section. It is entitled The Rachael Capers and it's from 2001, just before Othello premiered on ITV. Just for the record, the reference to the film Polyesterday threw me; I have no idea what that's all about!

News and photos

Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling

Sorry for the lack of updates recently! I've been really busy as I'm in my final couple of months at university now and I have lots of work to do. Also, there hasn't been a great deal of news on the Rachael front recently — probably because she's busy rehearsing Theatre of Blood! There are a few bits and pieces of news, though.

It has been revealed that Rachael's character in Theatre of Blood will not be called Edwina after all; the character's name has been changed from Edwina to Miranda. I can only assume that this was done to give Rachael a little more individuality and allow her to make Miranda her own, rather than "re-doing" the character her mother portrayed in 1973.

Good news for Americans and (some?) Canadians! You will be able to watch The Murder at the Vicarage on PBS, which apparently reaches parts of Canada as well as the United States. It will be airing twice: once at 9pm on April 17th and again at 9pm on April 24th. I have also heard on the grapevine that the Region 1 (US) DVD will be released on May 24th. I have added all of these dates to the calendar on the left as well. (I am always grateful for tip-offs from those of you on the other side of the pond, so if you know of any other airdates for Rachael shows/films, or release dates for Region 1 DVDs, let me know!) For more information on the PBS airings, please see PBS.org.

Thanks to various fans, we have several new photos in the galleries. Well, none of them are actually new, I don't think, but there were some I hadn't seen before, including some adorable baby photos of Rachael. I have organised the snapshots gallery and put most of the events photos into separate galleries. Everything left in the miscellaneous album is unidentified, so if you know of any of the events those photos came from, let me know! A few pictures have been added to the photo shoots gallery (see the one of Rachael in a fluffy hood, and the two of her wearing a silky top tied in front; one black and white, one colour). But I think my favourite additions are the ones of her when she was little. See the childhood gallery for these. The first one is absolutely adorable. :)

Our DVD of The Murder at the Vicarage arrived about a week ago and we should be getting some screencaps up soon!

Thanks so much to everyone who allowed me to use their scans. :) I really appreciate it. I think that's all the news for today!
