The Pallisers: radio drama

Claire here. I was just doing my regular trawl through BBC7's listen again page when I saw that 'The Pallisers' episode 1 aired yesterday!

If anyone would like to listen to episode 1 (of 12) you can go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/monday/ it is listed under 10am, 9pm and 2am. Broadcasts remain on the site for five days. Episode 2 aired today (and is repeated at 2am tonight if you want to stay up!) so it will appear on the site tomorrow.

Rachael plays the part of Mary, daughter of Glencora. According to this very site (though I don't recall where we got the information) it says Rachael only appears in episode 11. I'm inclined to believe that she will have a storyline in part 11 but may well feature in other episodes. We will no doubt make sound clips of Rachael's dialogue but I'm not sure if we will upload all 12 hour long episodes!

Edit: Listening to episode 1 it sounds like Rachael's character hasn't even been born yet so we may well have to wait until episode 11!

Hey Claire - thanks for that! Any chance of you guys (and I feel awful for asking because you both do so much already) but any chance of you putting it into a mp3 file to download. Some people (including myself) that I know who have Mac's can't access this stuff from the BBC web page. It would be great to hear it - when episode 11 comes. Again thanks for all your hard work!

    Hi Lucy,

That shouldn't be a problem at all. :)

Thank you for the heads up, Claire! If Rachael appears before episode 11, will you let us know? Thanks! : )

From memory R appears in episodes 11 and 12, her storyline echoes the earlier story, and it's all very well done/cast but I won't deny that it's rather a commitment to listen to all 12 episodes.

On a totally unrelated point it did mean I knew who Plantagenet Palliser was when I read Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (graphic novel not the series for 'local people')

Further info about the Palliser series of novels can be found here: http://www.trollopesociety.org/palliser.htm

or if you have a lot of time on your hands you can read all 6 books here: http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/t/trollope/anthony/

PS. R's character is 'Lady Mary'
