Hold Back the Night: Episode 1

I'm very sorry for not updating earlier in the week, after the first episode of Hold Back the Night aired. We've been very busy with lots of home renovations at the moment (we're having a new kitchen put in!) so things have been a bit hectic.

For those of you who don't know, Hold Back the Night is a new radio drama series in which Rachael plays the roles of two twins, Emma and Lucy Bonham. One of them appears to be the good twin, and the other is a runaway. We've only heard her as Emma (the good twin) so far, but I'm sure Lucy will pop up at some point once the main character, a private detective, manages to track her down!

I'm not quite sure what to make of the series yet. It does seem a bit cheesy and the script is a bit strange (it actually kind of reminds me of a school play!) but I'll definitely give it a chance. ;) It's amusing to think of her playing a pair of teenage twins, but I suppose it doesn't matter very much when it's on the radio!

Anyway! I've uploaded two different files: one is the full episode, and the other is an extract of the scene in which Rachael speaks. She was in this episode for only three or four minutes, as Emma Bonham. Please download the full episode only if you're actually interested in listening to it all, because it is a lot bigger than the extract which features just Rachael. (The full episode is half an hour long.)

I'm interested to know what people make of it, so please comment with your thoughts after listening. :)

I kind of like it. It'll be neat to see the difference between "Emma" and "Lucy". Yay, RS's voice is such a treat to hear, and it's good to see her (or hear her) doing something a bit different. :o)

She has an excellent voice for the radio. When I have more time I'll have to listen to the whole half hour :)

Hi Bonnie- hope your kitchen remodel is going well- what a big undertaking! Good luck!
I think that radio serials are a bit cheesy by nature….but that's part of the fun! I listened to the whole episode and really rather enjoyed it…..Rachael's voice was pure honey. Sorry, I don't mean to sound cheesy myself, but she really sounded very sweet. She conveyed the emotion of a worried Emma very well…it will be fun to hear the difference when she does Lucy; I wonder if she'll sound tough and hardened, or sad and vulnerable. Well done, Rachael!

Are the rest going to be uploaded at a later date too? I can't believe I forgot to listen to the second episode.

Hi Bonnie, yeah I was thinking you were taping all of the radio shows? Was I wrong - I sure hope you have. Maybe you're busy with your kitchen remodelling as E.B. said. Hope all is well with you guys.
