Photos, Hold Back the Night, and Riot at the Rite

Theatre of Blood

I would like to apologise for the lack of updates recently! Since returning from our holiday, we've both been quite busy with other things and haven't really had the chance to sit down and put together a substantial update.

I finally got the chance to scan in the photos from our Theatre of Blood programme today, and you can see a small version of one of them to the right. The others can be found in the Theatre of Blood promos gallery. There are three new (black and white) images in total.

There's some good news about the radio programme Hold Back the Night, in which Rachael will be playing the character(s) of Lucy and Emma. It will begin airing on July 19th at 11pm (on BBC Radio 4) and will then air for another three weeks, making it a four-part series. We don't know anything about the plot or Rachael's co-stars, but we will of course add more information to the site when we find out. I've added this information to the calendar. Also, UK fans can catch Still Crazy on Five this Friday evening!

But the last and most exciting piece of news is that Rachael will be starring in a brand new BBC drama! We do not yet know a great deal about it, but Claire has been researching it today and has discovered that it is called Riot at the Rite, and will also star Adam Garcia, Alex Jennings, Aidan McArdle, Gryff Rhys Jones, and Richard Hope. It will be a 90-minute-long TV film of sorts, and will be set in 1913 Paris. It will focus on the ballet Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and the riots that broke out at its premiere. Rachael will play Marie Rambert, who (in real life) was invited by Serge Diaghilev to assist Vaslav Nijinsky and his dancers with choreography for the ballet. It is based on real events and sounds very interesting indeed! Will we see Rachael dancing again? Filming is still taking place, as far as we can tell, and we're guessing it'll be released in time for Christmas. That's just a guess, though. :)

More news as we get it!

    Obviously,the above comment was intended
    for the downtime update.
Great news about Rachael's new projects,
    especially the film….should be fascinating!!
As for the new B&W photos…such intense
concentration on Rachael's face as she studies her craft!!!No wonder her reviews
    are so excellent!!

Thanx for noticing, and appreciating, my story… I'm glad someone noticed it. Perhaps there should be a message section in here for stuff like that. (and this come to think of it)

GBT- I too got a kick out of your faux Rachael interview- I think you channeled her spirit quite well! Very entertaining, as RS herself is.
I am really wishing that some programmer picks up Riot at the Rite for us in the States. I t sounds fascinating, and I'm sure Rachael will be excellent. I really notice a nasty trend in the U.S. to ignore the fantastic talent and projects from the U.K. (are you listening,PBS??) In Seattle here, we have access to a Canadian station that does have some U.K. programming (I've been able to see Coronation Street and Doctor Who) so maybe they'll pick it up.

Agree,E.B. but at least a BBC program may
eventually be released on DVD!Noticed that BBC America did not broadcast Fingersmith. At least PBS did show Rachael's Marple and A&E did present the Poirot!Hoping for more as I am definitely an Anglophile since TTV!!

Hmm… Canadian station playing Coronation Street? Sounds like the CBC. Strangely enough, I pick up my British shows on an American station. PBS loves their Britcoms! Probably ancient, but what the heck, new to me.
