Some exciting news came in this weekend: Rachael Stirling will be back on the London stage this Winter in a new play, The Priory by Michael Wynne, at the Royal Court Theatre. She'll be starring alongside Jessica Hynes (née Stevenson), which makes it doubly exciting for me as I'm a big fan of Jessica as well. The play has quite a long run when compared to some of Rachael's other theatre work, and will run from from 19 November 2009 – 9 January 2010.
I've already bought our tickets and I'm really looking forward to it. The benefit of booking via the official theatre website is that you can pick your seats. I've gone for the middle two seats in the second row, as they're slightly cheaper but also very close. You can buy tickets here: http://www.royalcourttheatre.com/whatson01.asp?play=559
Here's the official synopsis:
Kate is delighted when she finds a country retreat that ticks all the boxes. Gathering together a select group of her closest friends to celebrate New Year's Eve, she is keen to start 2010 afresh. But successful, stressed-out thirtysomethings in search of a good time in the sticks can make for one very fearsome party… and some surprising resolutions.
Michael Wynne's buoyant new comedy takes a microscope to modern dilemmas about life, love and retro board games.
That's all the information I have for now, and we don't have a confirmed character name for Rachael yet — I'm guessing that Jessica is playing the lead role, Kate. More details will be added to the Career: The Priory page as I receive it.
So who's going?

I've just added 20 screencaps from the behind the scenes featurette for Dangerous Parking, in which Rachael was interviewed and filmed on set.

Drawing a moustache on one of the crew dudes. Don't you just love her?

Hope you like the screencaps! More updates soon, including theatre news.

Well, it's been a long time coming, but here is a proper update with lots of new additions. Still to come are screencaps from Boy Meets Girl, but I'll save those for a separate update, maybe later in the week or next weekend. I'm pleased to say that aside from the screencaps, the site is now completely up-to-date with all of the new information, pictures, articles and other bits and pieces that I've been saving up over the past few months. Sorry it took me so long to sit down and do a real update.
So what's going on with Rachael at the moment? Well, her four-part TV mini-series Boy Meets Girl aired in the UK during May and June 2009, and is currently airing over in Australia on ABC2. The DVD has recently been released in the UK and I recommend it! We also have a new affiliate, Martin Freeman Online — a fan site for Rachel's co-star in the show.
Rachael has recently been working on the feature film Centurion, by Neil Marshall. Here's the synopsis:
Britain, A.D. 117. Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, marches north with General Virilus' legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.
Sounds intriguing, eh?
Rachael plays a character called Drusilla, though I haven't been able to find out much about what sort of role it is. If anyone knows anything about the historical Ninth Legion, please comment and let me know if you have any idea who Drusilla might be. I'd love to know.
In addition to promoting Boy Meets Girl and working on Centurion, Rachael recently worked on a short film which forms part of an exhibition at the Kimbell Art Museum in Texas, USA. The exhibition is called "Butchers, Dragons, Gods and Skeletons" and the film featuring Rachael is Apollo and the Continents. It runs until 25 October 2009.
Some other photos and scans have been added:
Thank you so much to Evelyn, who kindly scanned in a copy of the Pygmalion theatre programme from when Rachael played Eliza Doolittle in February, at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. It's a great little programme and I've added the scans to the gallery:

And finally, a few more articles have been added to the Press section:
That's all for today! I'll be back soon with screencaps from Boy Meets Girl and maybe some other bits and bobs. But for now, please check out the latest additions and comment here to let me know what you think… or even just to say that you've visited. It's lovely getting feedback from people and it makes all the hard work worthwhile, so please take the time to say hi.
