Minder screencaps

Well, after a good number of hours and a heck of a lot of repetition, I have finally managed to screencap the entire episode of Minder from a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that Demand FIVE is not the best TV catch-up website I've ever come across! If I have to listen to the Minder theme song one more time, I may well go bonkers.

I have uploaded the screencaps to the website:

The Young Victoria released today

The Young Victoria

The Young Victoria goes on general cinematic release today, here in the UK. This is Rachael's first major feature film, and although she plays a relatively small part (to my knowledge, at least) this will be the first time the masses will get to see her on the big screen. Some of her other films have had very limited cinematic release, but usually restricted to a few dates and a few cinemas. This film is big.

To illustrate just how big this film is, I've seen trailers on the TV for it every single day for the past two weeks, it's all over the national press, our local news programme featured it yesterday (as our region's beautiful Lincoln Cathedral "played the role" of Westminster Abbey — look out for it!), and on any given day, I can go into the city centre where I live and see at least two or three buses with huge The Young Victoria posters plastered to their sides. Our city has no connection with the film, yet it's being advertised everywhere. These buses have been spotted across the UK.

What massive publicity for a film featuring Rachael. I'm not used to it! Even if her role is tiny, it's going to be amazing for her CV. Her agent needs to update her CV as a few of her recent projects aren't mentioned at all!

In non-TYV news, Minder was on TV the other night, and I wasn't hugely impressed with it as a programme (found it quite full) and it left me thinking I would love to see Rachael in something really gritty. Rarely is she given the chance to really shine in a role. I really, really hope Boy Meets Girl gets off the ground. Not gritty, but a challenge, and she needs more of those. Minder didn't really give her the chance to "show off", so to speak.

I'll get Minder screencaps up this weekend, with any luck.

The Young Victoria

The Young Victoria will focus on the first, often turbulent, years of the monarch's rule — she became queen at eighteen — and her legendary romance and marriage to Prince Albert. Devastated by her husband's death in 1861, she wore black for the rest of her life and remained largely secluded.

Minder

Archie has hired his warehouse out for a charity fashion event, hosted by entrepreneur Felix Cornell and his wife, Eve. The same day he also agrees to mind a new, top of the range, Porsche for old associate, Danny. Archie is eager to rub shoulders with Felix, seeing him as a future business associate and allows him to believe the Porsche is his. At the charity event, Archie unwittingly enters a high stakes poker game for the charity. When Felix raises the bet further, Archie cannot help himself and to Jamie’s disbelief stakes the Porsche, losing it fair and square.

The next morning Archie can only beg Felix to return the car but Felix refuses and instead offers him a chance to win it back at another poker game to be held at his country manor. Outside, Jamie spots Wes Gray, a disgruntled ex employee of Felix’s who’d been refused entry to the party the night before. As Wes crosses the road a car attempts to run him over. Jamie saves him, but Wes runs off. Archie agrees to another game and knowing Jamie is a poker expert he also puts him forward under a pseudonym. Archie’s plan is for Jamie to beat Felix and win back the car.

Jamie reluctantly agrees, however, when they arrive at the mansion it is evident all is not right in the Cornell household. Jamie is convinced Felix is bent and had tried to kill Wes Gray. He attempts to convince Eve that her husband is dodgy but she refuses to believe him. But as the poker game progresses Eve starts to see that Jamie might be right and secretly calls Wes Gray. Wes arrives and informs Eve and Jamie of Felix’s dodgy business dealings and the fact that he is trying to have him killed for threatening to reveal the truth. Felix catches them all in the act and, angered by the deception, he challenges Jamie to a new game of poker but this time the stakes are the car in exchange for Archie’s fingers. Jamie enters the most dangerous card game of his life but will his skill be enough to win back the car and get them both out of this tricky situation in one piece?

Boy Meets Girl still expected to air

Boy Meets Girl

Some of you have expressed concern that Boy Meets Girl may be shelved, so I emailed the press contact for the show and got the following response:

Thank you for your email.

We anticipate Boy Meets Girl being in the Spring/Summer schedule, however we're not in a position to confirm a transmission date at the moment.

Boy Meets Girl will be extensively publicised and interviews with the cast will appear at least a week before transmission.

So I'm really hoping it will go ahead, and that we'll have plenty of warning about it beforehand, through interviews and advertising. It's interesting enough a concept to make the front cover of a few telly mags, I think. This is a huge project for Rachael, when you think about it — a comedy drama of 4 x 1-hour-long episodes (longer than Tipping the Velvet!) in which she co-stars with Martin Freeman — if this airs on primetime ITV1, that's pretty exciting.

So let's keep our fingers crossed.
