Riot at the Rite photo

Riot at the Rite

I came across this larger version of one of the Riot at the Rite promo photos today, and it really does look like that's Rachael second from the left. I wasn't sure when I saw the smaller version of the photo but I'm 99% sure it is her now! A while back we were discussing why she would be in costume if she's a choreographer, and I'm still very curious, but it is her — right?

I've added the photo to the gallery anyway. :) Also, I've added a new Tamburlaine review from CurtainUp London.

I'm really looking forward to Riot at the Rite. I wonder when it'll be aired?!

The Eligibles 2005 — Top 50 Women (Number 11)

Lives London.

Who is she? Still best known for her lesbian scenes in the BBC drama Tipping the Velvet, Rachael has been steadily adding credits to her name. This year she won rave reviews for her performance in Theatre of Blood (reprising the role her mother, Diana Rigg, played in the film 32 years ago), and is currently in Tamburlaine, the Christopher Marlowe play. When not working, she loves to have friends round "to play backgammon", but is at her happiest in the countryside around Stirling, where her father lives.

Pluses She scorns celebrity life and drives an H-reg Golf — her first and only car.

Minuses She says she has a tendency to spend too much time on her own.

Best date "In Florence, looking out over the river in the evening sunshine with some bread, cheese and a bottle of wine."

Favourite book Gerald Durrell's My Family and Other Animals.

Nothing is sexier than… "Gael Garcia Bernal, the lead actor in The Motorcycle Diaries."

Where will you be in ten years? "Still acting, or in Jenni Murray's job, presenting Woman's Hour. I'm hot for Jenni's seat."

Hold Back the Night news

Hello all! This is my first update on R-S.com. I have decided to take a more active role in the site so you may be seeing more updates from myself.

The point of this update is to say that the long awaited BBC radio series Hold Back the Night starts on Tuesday. Rachael plays the part of Emma Bonham and her CV also states that she plays Lucy (a teenage runaway); it is unclear as yet whether Emma and Lucy are the same character. You can listen to Radio 4 in a variety of ways including via Sky and Freeview television. For more details visit the BBC Radio 4: Technical Help page. For anyone who misses the programme or can't listen by any of these means, there should be a "Listen Again" option on the website. This will be available the day after broadacast and for a further 6 days. You can download a free Basic player from the RealPlayer website.

I have also added a number of entries to the calendar; Rachael is getting a fair bit of screen time over the next couple of weeks.

Edit: Since there have been a couple of enquiries, I would like to add that it is very likely we will provide an MP3 download of each episode after it airs.

Evening Standard review of Tamburlaine

I've added another new review of Tamburlaine now that it has hit the capital. It's from the Evening Standard. Rachael is getting a fair few compliments for this role! :)

Various updates

Tamburlaine

Sorry I haven't made an update yet this week! Claire and I have both been unwell and haven't really felt like doing much. Unfortunately this meant that I didn't get around to posting about the premiere of The Truth, which was on Friday at the Salford Film Festival. It seems that all of the tickets were reserved fairly quickly, though, so it may have been that anyone wanting to go would've been disappointed anyway.

I have made a few updates to the site today, although I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do! First of all, I added another promotional image from Tamburlaine, which you can view in full size by clicking on the thumbnail to the right. I think it's one of the ones we saw in the foyer at the Old Vic, and I wish I had copies of all of those pictures because they were quite nice. I remember seeing a lovely close-up one of Rachael's face.

I have added four new items to the Press section (formerly known as Publicity, but since renamed as I didn't like it). Three of them are simply reviews of Tamburlaine, and all of them fairly good (even the FT one, which isn't particularly complimentary when it comes to the play as a whole, has praise for Rachael).

The other is a lovely interview with Diana Rigg from 1978. It was published in the Daily Mail, and took place when Rachael was 18 months old, so Diana talks about the joys of motherhood. It's a very sweet little interview and I added it because I know a few people wanted to read it. I believe the scan I typed it up from was provided by Barry, so thank you to him. :)

I have also followed Lucy's great suggestion of associating with Amazon.ca as well as Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, and have been accepted to all three schemes now. They all work in an identical fashion; I just have to use different codes for each of them. I've changed the way the pages look now, and made it so that you can purchase Region 1 DVDs directly via the USA site, or have them imported via the Canadian or UK sites. That's how we managed to get our copies of Bait, Othello, The Triumph of Love, etc. so it makes sense. :) It appears that Region 2 DVDs (or at least all the Rachael ones) are available only via the UK site, so that's the only option for buying those versions. I did consider associating with the French site as well, but then there was the added confusion of whether to add the French language DVD or not — and it all got very complicated!

Oh and I also added a new item to the calendar, as The Final Quest will be repeated on ITV1 this Friday at 9pm. So those of you who missed it the first time will get another chance to see it. :)

I am working on implementing a message board for us all to chat at, but it won't be online for a little while yet. It still needs some tweaking! I promise to post here as soon as it's ready, though.
